What’s it gonna cost me?

Coach Greggory Schillinger

The first fear was, how much is it gonna be out of my monthly nut? Can I afford to do this? Especially when it’s a long-term project. How long is this going to go on? So that’s the first obstacle you have to get over. And of course I come from a whole different area of, ‘Can I afford not to do it?’ That’s how I think. So that was an easy one, once I figured out I can’t afford not to learn from somebody who’s been doing this and can teach me some things that will really help me get to where I want to be a whole lot quicker.

The next one was time. How much time is it going to take? How is it possible I’m going to be able to do this? You know it takes a big commitment. That’s important. Anything you start to go forward on has to be committed 100%. You can’t marginally commit to it. That was a big concern. But once I got past those two and I made it not an option to not have the time and made it not an option to not invest in myself, then it was an easy decision.

I knew that if I invested this time, by purely spending the money I would have to do something with it. So it was a leverage point to me to really make that business happen. So I created the website. I started talking to people. I was learning from Julia and actually doing coaching sessions with different folks. And I learned a lot. So that was one part. I test phased that I knew that and leveraged myself high enough that it would happen. It didn’t happen as quickly as I wanted, nor what I expected but that’s okay. It’s all part of the master plan.

The second was how was I going to be able to afford this on a business and personal level and with a family? So that was a tougher one, but one that now in hind sight was easy. So easy to say it was money well spent. Here I am, I’ve made it back ten fold, or twenty fold, whatever it’s been. And would I have gotten there had I not done that?  And that’s the thought process. I know in my own heart I wouldn’t have. And I followed my own instincts and because of that, things happened.

This school isn’t for everybody. Coaching isn’t for everybody. People who ‘get it’ are the ones you want because those are the ones who get the biggest value.

Biggest benefit: the combination of taking a course and then applying what you were taught in a real-time coaching session and also learning from what other people are saying and doing in real-time coaching sessions. That for me was eye-opening. You know anybody who is as old as I am, you forget what it’s like to learn. You tend to think of learning as reading and reading doesn’t make you do it. We had to read it, talk about it and then apply it and then do it. And then go back and do a look-see at what you just did. That was really critical for me.

How terrifying is that? Once you get over it, you find the value in it. And people come from different angles than you ever thought you could and it’s that whole part of learning that you don’t know everything. And your eyes aren’t the see all and end all.

It was a steady progression to and end. We were on a path of, ‘We’re going to do this and here’s why.’ And it was a build up of our skills sets and what we learned without forgetting what we learned previous to it. So that was valuable to me as well. It wasn’t like when we got to number nine we forgot all about number one. We went back and forth between the different lessons we were learning and layered them on and referenced them as we went forward. For me that’s a key way to learn. Use what you’ve originally learned and reference back to it.

Julia’s really great at understanding that there aren’t steps in coaching. We have to put them there because we have to indentify them. We’ve got to quantify them, somehow. But there aren’t steps. It was, ‘You were doing great on this. Did you notice that?’ And by reinforcing that it gives us all more confidence that, you know, there are things that we’ve learned in our previous lives that do us well in coaching. We just didn’t realize what the term was or how it acted in the coaching world and why it meant anything.  So that part of the school was really valuable to me.

I would absolutely recommend this school and I have. Number one, because of Julia, she’s great. She takes care of people. She cares about them, not the business. We’ve talked about this many times. If you just care about the person, the business comes. And I think that’s what’s critical. I don’t think there’s anybody who believes she’s just there to take the money and run. And we all know that there’s a million places out there that do that everyday. Unfortunately the expectations bar is set kind of low! You know, when’s the hammer coming? Sure everything’s free or really low priced but, Everybody’s waiting for the next shoe to drop!  That never crossed my mind, nor happened. It was all open and fair and that’s all I could ever ask.

I would just say that anybody who’s thinking of joining, you know it couldn’t be better suited to having something happen on their time with their schedule instead of being forced in something not to their liking. They’ve been or incredibly flexible and patient with me. I really appreciate that. You know we all have to make money while we’re trying to make money! You know, I’m just trying to learn a better way to do that. They allowed me and others to come and go as their priorities shifted and changed. That is deeply appreciated.

There’s a reason why Julia has great students, because we are attracted to greatness, as well. We understand that. She’s a friend not a person we do business with. And how many times can you say that in life. In my experience, I’d rather spend more money with people I value and less money that don’t give a crap about me. And that’s how I run business. It’s how I run my life.

Business Coach

Would I be good enough?

Coach Heidi Courtney

"Two concerns I had with joining School of Coaching Mastery were finances and would I be good enough as a coach when I complete the course.

What I found was that joining SCM has been the greatest investment I ever made! Julia's fantastic ability to thoroughly break down each mastery with all it's subtleties, describe and teach them is outstanding.

Having practice sessions with teachers giving direct feedback on where the skills are showing up strong and where they need improving is absolutely priceless.  Desiring to be a masterful coach, I really needed to know where I was at to feel confident.

Other benefits from being a part of the school are the coaching communities and groups that are available. I have a wonderful network of coaches and students who have become great friends. Their support and friendship are invaluable.

I recommend School of Coaching Mastery to anyone serious about being a masterful coach. Thank you Julia, for creating a school that really has the best interest of coaches and the coaching profession at heart."

Heidi Courtney - Life Coach

I was concerned about money.

Coach Lael Johnson

I found that it was relatively easy to develop a payment plan and that the school was what I had in mind plus a bit more, in terms of coaching training. I was hooked once I started to take the Coaching Groundwork class.

My favorite benefit is the coaching practice sessions, both long and short--at first I was terrirfied and certainly uninformed, but they became easier and more fun after awhile.

Additional benefits are great colleagues, developing self-confidence, interesting information and different viewpoints.

SCM provides a broad training background. It challenges students' to grow on all levels, before, during and after completing training and certification.

Great school...glad I joined!!

- Lael Johnson, Life & Creativity Coach for Women

Am I just being foolish spending so much money for the same thing I could get somewhere else for less?

Coach Rebeckah Flowers

"When I was considering joining the school, I had two main concerns - how expensive the training is, and whether or not the school would really provide me with the training I needed to succeed. There were so many schools out there promising me certification and a great career with less investment in both time and money...and I wondered, what is the difference really, between your school and all of the others? Am I just being foolish spending so much money for the same thing I could get somewhere else for less?

After joining the school, I found that the support of the community was incredible, and the value I received was less in terms of the curriculum itself, but in sharing thoughts, feelings and fears with you and the others in my classes. Coaching skills were somewhat natural to me, but business building was new so the Coach 100 classes focusing on getting clients were incredibly helpful and totally justified by themselves the financial investment. In addition, the personal development classes helped me redefine my goals and dreams. I have made incredible changes as a result of those classes and revisit my notes every 6 months or so in a continual process of getting to know myself better.

My favorite part of this program is its flexibility. I hate being tied to a schedule, and have real trouble juggling my other commitments and classes, but I could always listen to the recordings of the classes and get "live" support through the community features - the online forum and friendships I had made - whenever I needed it.

The greatest benefit of the program for me was the exposure to a wide range of coaching styles. By being involved in in-class coaching, having coaching buddies and exchanging coaching sessions with other coaches in the program, I learned quite a bit about the many different ways one can coach and still provide value. I learned that being one's self, as opposed to fitting some predetermined model of "a coach" was most effective, and I learned to work with aspects of myself as a coach that I had previously felt may be problematic, such as my alternative spiritual beliefs, turning them into benefits for my clients, and enhancing my own self-image at the same time. An awesome feeling!

I would absolutely recommend this program and school to others, because I believe that Julia, its founder, and all of the staff and students are operating from a place of real integrity. Everyone is truly supporting each other in a journey towards masterful coaching, with a sincere interest in providing a service to others that promotes clients' and colleagues' self-esteem and personal fulfillment. Lives are truly being changed for the better, every day as a direct result of the training we receive.

Ultimate Coach Training Pilot Membership Program

I’m Julia Stewart, President of the School of Coaching Mastery and I’m really happy to be here with you tonight. Tonight’s date, for those of you listening to the recording, is 9-8-10.

This call is for new coaches, people who are thinking about becoming coaches and professional coaches who want to upgrade their lives and businesses and are looking for coach training.

I have prepared information about the pitfalls and opportunities of becoming a coach, but the last part of this call will be for Q&A, so you can ask about whatever I haven’t made clear to you.

Very quickly, I’ll introduce myself. I call myself a coaching geek, because I’m one of those people who is totally immersed in my profession. I graduated from CoachU and then studied directly with Thomas Leonard, the creative genius and founder of the coaching profession, at the Graduate School of Coaching, until Thomas’ untimely death in 2003. After that, I taught at the Thomas Leonard Coaching School where I was the Lead certifier. And I held the title of Visionary Coach at what was then the largest coach training school in the world.

Over the years, I’ve become a fanatic about great coaching skills, because they rock clients’ worlds and they’re the reason the coaching profession has become one of the fastest growing careers of the 21stCentury, even during the recession.

Great coaching skills are also what allow coaches to charge $100 – 500 per session to clients who wait in line to work with them. But not every coach reaches this level. That’s what this training program is designed to prepare you to do.

The purpose of tonight’s call is to introduce you to the Ultimate Coach Training Program, to help you clarify whether or not this will meet your needs, and if it does, see if the New Pilot Membership Program will help you to join.

I believe this program will save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars while preparing you for the life and business you really want.

Because, let’s face it, your career is your most valuable asset.People used to think their homes were their biggest assets, but now we know better. For most of us, our ability to work is our biggest opportunity to make money, so you don’t want to screw that up.

That’s why I focused on making the Ultimate Coach Training Program a program that actually gives coaches the tools they need to succeed in this profession.

Because the truth is, only about 20% of all coaches are truly satisfied with their careers. The other 80% struggle or drop out, mostly because they’re either unprepared or just not committed enough.

That’s why we developed this program to give coaches what they really need, not just barely enough to call it coach training. Studies show that coaches who are well trained, make more money, become successful faster and are less likely to quit.

If your goal is to help others grow and transform their lives and you want to do this via life or business coaching, but you don’t want to be among the 80% who don’t make it, then the ultimate coach training program is a solution you want to at least consider.

What is it? It’s an in-depth distance-learning coach training program that starts where ever you are. If you’re a beginner, we have beginning courses, if you’re more advanced, you can start at a more advanced level. You also have the option of taking it as far as you want. If you want an elite certification we can prepare you for that. If you want to teach our curriculum to others, we’ll license you to do that. If you just want enough to get started, that’s ok too. None of the courses are required. You’re an adult and you get to decide what you need. We’ll give you guidelines, but we’re here to save you time, not waste your time with unnecessary classes.

We know you have hundreds of coach training programs to choose from, so why would you choose us? A few of these other programs are excellent. Most are well-meaning, but not very good. A huge trend in coach training is the coaching equivalent of the diploma mill.

We’re here for the coach who wants excellent training, not just the cheapestbut we’re also sensitive to you desire not to pay more than necessary, or to go into debt or to pay interest, so that’s why we’re experimenting with the new pilot membership program. It’s a pay-as-you go approach, that minimizes your upfront costs, gives you the flexibility to get as much training as you want, but not pay endlessly for what you don’t want and allows you to stop and restart, if necessary. We even have a money-back guarantee and a value-back guarantee, so we share in the risk that you take when you sign-up with us.

These days, money is the #1 concern of coaches who are looking for a coaching school. But what I know is that the cheapest school can cost you the most in the long run. The best investment is the coaching school that prepares you to be a successful coach. If you spend $1000 on inadequate coach training and that delays your coaching success by five years, which is a common scenario, and your coaching business could have been bringing in $100K per year, that’s $500K that you’ve lost and that’s a lousy investment. On the other hand, if you spend $5000 to make $500K in five years doing what you love, that’s a fantastic investment.

I just want to be clear, I’m not promising you’ll make $100K/year right away. You may not make it ever. Some successful coaches are very happy with businesses that earn half that. What I’m saying is that we have the tools and systems to help you succeed according to your definition of success and most other coaching schools don’t.

Another big concern among coaches is whether they’ll be good enough. We address this head on. All our coaching skills classes give you the opportunity to practice and get verbal and written feedback so you’re not flying blind anymore, as one of our students put it. Most coaches find this a little scary at first, but we give a safe supportive environment, focusing on what you did well and where you can grow next. This is without a doubt the most effective way to become a master coach and those are the coaches who succeed.

Additionally, coaches wonder whether they can market their coaching businesses. We give basic training in filling a coaching business, as well as advanced training in marketing and business design. Some people joke that there’s a coach on every corner these days. We prepare you to go to the top, not struggle on the bottom rungs of the coaching ladder. There is too much competition for you to leave this to chance.

So here’s the deal. The Ultimate Coach Trainig Program includes well over 200 hours of coaching skills training, personal development, which is one of the secrets of coaching seuccess, business, marketing and sales training, as well as three different certifications, a license to teach our curriculum, teacher training, if you want it, and advanced mentoring to help you step into the role of master coach, as soon as you can.

If you want to read some testimonial about the program, please visit:

http://www.schoolofcoachingmastery.com/ultimate-coach-training/ Our student share what their biggest obstacles were and how they’re faring now.

Given what we offer, the $5000 tuition is a bargain, but it’s a steep investment (and it's about to go up). So I asked myself, What if I could turn this into a membership program, so that coaches can pay as they go and get what they want in a way that’s more affordable? And what if I could offer a money-back guarantee, so help them take the plunge?

My stumbling block was that making our entire downloadable curriculum available to someone who’s only paid a couple hundred dollars, would be insane. And once we’ve given you access to it, giving your money back would also not work.

The way I’m making it work, is you’ll get access to more an more of our curriculum the longer you stay with us. You’ll pay a modest monthly fee until you feel complete with the program.

And if at any time, you feel we’ve let you down in the quality and value of this program, let me know and I’ll refund your most recent payment. That’s our money-back guarantee.

We also have what we call a Value-Back guarantee, which says that if you think we’re not giving you what you need to succeed, we’ll go to work and figure out how we can upgrade your value.

That doesn’t mean that you can be lazy and just depend on us to magically make you successful, though. In some cases, that extra value might be delivered as a swift kick in the pants!

So make sure you really want to try this out and give it your very best. We promise to meet you half-way and then some to help you create the life and business you really want, not just pay your money and get stuck struggling for the next five years.

So I’m setting up this new pilot program and I need a few early-adopters to join and be my beta-testers, if you will. I’m willing to give you a steep discount if you’ll join up in the next week or two and I have room for 7 members in this pilot program.

Okay, I’ve offered to make this really reasonable for you if you join the Pilot program right away. I think the monthly membership should run around $347 - 397/mo. But if you’re ready to join us and give me feedback on the program, you can start right away and lock in a price that my coach thinks is crazy, which is $297/month.

That’s a saving of about $50/month or $600/year.

If that sounds reasonable to you, then,

Beat the price increase on January 14th and save $50 every month!

Questions & Answers:

Okay, you probably have a ton of Questions. I’m going to open this up so ask me anything you want about this program now...

QUESTION: I’ve been looking at your programs and listening to the free program and I’m not clear between what’s free and the other paid programs. What’s the difference between the various programs at School of Coaching Mastery?

ANSWER: The Free Coach Training is mostly recorded, although some live classes will be taught by coaches who have been certified by us and are in our Coach Trainer Program. But if you want to go through the free program quickly, you need to take the recorded version. And then there’s an online exam that if you pass, we’ll give you a free Coaching Certificate. We won’t declare you a Certified Coach, though, because an online exam can’t really measure that.

And then the difference between various training programs, first of all, all of those are included in the Ultimate Coach Training Program. They include what we call the Foundations and several of those are included in the free program, too. Those teach coaching foundation skills, coaching philosophy and some business basics. Then there’s the Personal Development program, which is the secret to success for many coaches, because it gives you the insights you need to really ‘get it’. Coach 100 gives business, marketing and sales skills that even a beginning business person can master. Many coaches have filled their coaching practices with this program. Next up is the Certified Coach Training Program, which teaches masterful skills, the ones you need to pass a skills-based coach certification. Beyond that, we have Advanced skills, like group coaching, also the Certified Coach Trainer Program, which includes teleclass and webinar-leading skills. And finally, we have the Graduate Seminar, which is an advanced mentor program that takes you from technician to innovator, so you aren’t just barely ready to start your coaching business, you’re actually creating the next iteration of coaching. Why is that important? Because it establishes you as the go-to person in your field.

QUESTION: With each of these programs, can you get certified by School of Coaching Mastery?

ANSWER: Great question! Yes, with Coach 100, when you’ve coached 100 people, we’ll award you the Certified Experience Coach designation. With the Certified Coach Training Program, there are two certifications. The SCM Certified Coach recognizes that you’re coaching at the proficient level which means you’re coaching at a higher level than most professional coaches in the world. The SCM Certified Master Coach recognizes that you’re coaching at the masterful level, which would put you in the company of a very elite small group of master coaches, worldwide.

QUESTION: Do I have to join the Ultimate Coach Training Program at the beginner level?

ANSWER: Another great question! No. If you want to skip the Foundations, Personal Development and/or Coach 100, for instance, we could add you to the Certified Coach Training Program level, which would allow you to skip over some of the training time and monthly payments.

QUESTION: When are live classes offered?

ANSWER: Class times are scheduled according to what our current students are requesting, but usually they run from 9 AM Eastern/NY USA Time, to 10 PM Eastern/NY USA Time.

QUESTION: Are there any particular days on which classes are offered?

ANSWER: Currently we offer all our classes on Monday through Thursday, but we’re open to offering them seven days per week, if the demand is there.

QUESTION: I’d be joining at the beginner level. Is it possible for me to complete everything within two years?

ANSWER: Yes, if you approach the process of becoming a coach, getting certified and building your business as a full-time job, you can definitely complete everything in two years or less. However, if you already have a full-time job, or you have certain days/times when you’re busy with something else, it will naturally take longer.

QUESTION: Is there a linear progression through the courses or do we have a choice?

ANSWER: It’s some of both. There’s a progression especially with some of them. We’ll give you guidelines for what to take next, but you can choose to do what you want, when you want.

QUESTION: How do you know when you’re finished?

ANSWER: You’ll know when you’re finished according to whether you’ve reached your own goals. If you’re going for the Certified Master Coach designation, you’ll know when you’ve reached that level. But if your goal is a full coaching practice, you may decide to stop sooner and you have the flexibility to do that with this membership program.

QUESTION: How do we know when we’re ready to become a Certified Master Coach?

ANSWER: Coaching Masteries, you’ll get written feedback that will let you know if you’re coaching at the masterful level, yet.

QUESTION: What’s the process for becoming a Certified Master Coach?

ANSWER: We also have a course called, the Certification Practicum,in which coaches take turns coaching for 30 minutes, each. We record those sessions and your instructor will grade your sessions and recommend whether to turn them in to be graded by 2 more Certifiers. Our certification is based on your results with clients, which is determined by recommendations from five of your clients, and on whether you can demonstrate masterful coaching skills, which is determined by three master coaches, who score two 30-minute sessions by you.

QUESTION: For coaches who want to get started building their clientele, right away, which courses are best to take first? Are there courses that teach what a typical first coaching session would be like?

ANSWER: Coach 100 is designed to help new coaches fill up their coaching practices and many coaches have done so, using that program. We go over, in detail, how to conduct complimentary coaching sessions that lead to paying clients. We also have classes in Coach 100 and in the Foundations Program that teach how to conduct coaching sessions within the first month of coaching.

QUESTION: What’s the process for signing up for the Pilot Program?

ANSWER: If you’re still not sure of anything, the best next step is to have conversation with me about it. You can call +1-877-224-2780 to ask questions. We have really nice people who answer the phone and there’s no hard-selling. You can also email us here. But if you’re clear about wanting the join the program while the tuition is low, then it’s just a matter of clicking the payment link and putting in your payment info. Once that goes through, we’ll give you everything you need to become a coach and build the life and business you really want. You’ll receive a new program added to your membership each month for the first year and after that, it’s just a matter of continuing until you reach your own goals.

QUESTION: So there is special pricing for the next seven people who join on a first-come, first-served basis, is that right?

ANSWER: Yes, I expect the final monthly membership fee to be between $347 – 397 per month, but during this introductory period, the first several coaches who join will be helping us by asking all these great questions, so we can answer them for future members and iron out any aspects of our system that are not fully up to par, yet. So we have special pricing right now for a limited number of coaches and for a limited time.

QUESTION: You’ve sold me on the value of the program. My mind’s just spinning trying figure out how to pay the monthly fee.

ANSWER: That’s awesome. I’m happy to coach you around how you can do it. If you really want it, there is virtually always a way to do it.

QUESTION: I’m confused. If you pay less now, do you get less?

ANSWER: It’s exactly the same. We’ve been in business for 3 ½ years, so the program’s not new. The only difference is right now, you’ll be helping me answer questions like these.

QUESTION: I’ve researched a lot of programs and this is the most affordable I’ve found, so I’m definitely going to do it. If I went to CTI, it would be $900 just for one class. I still have some trepidation about the investment, though.

ANSWER: That’s great that you want to join. I want you to know that if you join us and realize you’re unhappy, you can always quit at any time. And if you feel we’re not giving the value we’ve promised, let us know as soon as you realize you’re unhappy and we’ll refund your most recent payment. So you only lose if you know you’re unhappy and you don’t say anything. That’s our Money-Back Guarantee.

QUESTION: That helps…

ANSWER: Yeah, I struggled with that, because a money-back guarantee is a nice incentive to try something, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that there’s nothing to lose. Your career depends on making a good choice. You need to fully commit to becoming a coach and to utilizing this program in order to get full value. I also want you to know that we have something I call the Value-Back Guarantee, which means that if you feel we’re not giving you the most up-to-date tools to help you succeed as a coach, tell us, and we’ll figure out how to upgrade the program. That keeps all of us on our toes.

QUESTION:  What if I need to drop out and drop back in?

ANSWER: Yes, you can do that. However, there will probably be a reinstatement fee and if the tuition has gone up in the meantime, you will rejoin at the new fee. If you really want to do it, let’s figure out how you can.

QUESTION:  I think I read that we could get our own webpage, is that right?

ANSWER: Yes, that’s part of the Coach 100 program. If you already have a website, we’ll link to it, but if you don’t, you can use this page as your web address. And this site is very well optimized for search engines, so it’s a very good thing to be on our site.

QUESTION: You stick so close to Thomas Leonard’s philosophy and that has really sold me. And the fact that so many coaches don’t have the skills they need, I really believe in mastery, too.

ANSWER: Yes, Thomas infected me with the desire to improve coaching worldwide. Coaching has the power to transform the world and it’ll only happen if we’re all doing our best, so I want to make it possible for the right coaches to join us and this is the best way I could figure out to do that.
