1. Skills-based Certifications: Demonstrate to the world that your clients get results!

How to become an SCM Certified Competent Coach, Certified Proficient Coach or Certified Master Coach:

A. SCM Certified Competent Coach (SCM-CCC)

Step 1: Attend Coaching Groundwork Advanced 16-hr live tele-webinar training. You need to attend at least 6 out of 8 live class meetings (Arrive within 5 minutes of start; leave no more then 5 minutes before end). This course can be taken alone, or is included with Coach Launch Pro, or the Ultimate Coach Training Program, at no extra charge.

Step 2: Study your Coaching Guides (provided), take an online multiple-choice coaching test and pass with a combined average of 80% or better. You will be given two chances to pass the test. You will be encouraged to do some outside study to increase your chances of passing, but there is nothing else to buy.

Step 3: Demonstrate your coaching skills at a competent level or higher at least once during course practicums. You'll hear coaching demonstrations by your instructor and classmates. You'll also be given multiple opportunities to practice coaching inside and out of class.

Step 4: Pledge to uphold SCM's Best Practices for Professional Coaches (Demonstrates ethics, service, and a high level of professionalism).

Step 5: Once you've achieved the SCM-CCC, you'll receive your certificate, plus a badge to place on your website and social profiles. You'll also have an opportunity to be added to SCM's CCC webpage with a link to your website, if you have one, so your future clients can verify your accomplishment. You will need to maintain your certification each year by turning in 2 recommendations from 2 coaching clients (paid or unpaid), that you have coached for 3 months or longer. (Demonstrates continuation of ethics, service, professionalism). There is a $50USD fee per year to maintain your certification (may be waived if you taken additional live classes at SCM) or you may apply for the SCM-CPC or -CMC, instead.

SCM-CCC's are encouraged to upgrade to SCM Certified Proficient Coach, or Certified Master Coach, as soon as they are ready.

B. SCM Certified Proficient Coach (SCM-CPC)

Step 1: Attend at least one Master Coach Training Level via live tele-webinars. You'll will be given a chance to coach for 30-minutes in the practicum, after which you'll receive verbal and written feedback as well as a grade. These practicums are included in Master Coach Training Levels 1, 2 & 3; and are also included in the more extensive Certified Coach Training for intermediate to advanced coaches, and Ultimate Coach Training for beginning to advanced coaches. Alternatively, you may attend a live in-person Coach Certification Bootcamp for intermdiate to advanced coaches. There is no online test for this certification.

Step 2: Using our online recommendation questionaire, request three recommendations from three clients (paid or unpaid) that you have coached for 3 months or longer. (Demonstrates results, ethics, service, professionalism)

Step 3: Once your 3 recommendations are in, your two 30-minute live (over the phone or in-person) coaching sessions will be graded by 3 certifiers. You must have an averaged score of 76% or higher. (Confirms proficiency-level skills) If your averaged score is 60 - 75%, you'll receive the SCM-CCC. Or you may resubmit coaching sessions (There is an extra charge for resubmission).

Step 4: Step 4: Pledge to uphold SCM's Best Practices for Professional Coaches (Demonstrates ethics, service, and a high level of professionalism).

Step 5: Once you've achieved the SCM-CPC, you'll receive your certificate, plus a badge to place on your website and social profiles. You'll also have an opportunity to be added to SCM's CPC webpage with a link to your website, if you have one, so your future clients can verify your accomplishment. You will need to maintain your certification by turning in 3 recommendations, using our online recommendation questionaire, from 3 additional clients (paid or unpaid), annually that you have coached for 3 months or longer, each. (Demonstrates continuation of results, ethics, service, professionalism) There is a $100USD fee per year to maintain your certification (may be waived if you taken additional live classes at SCM), or you can apply for the SCM-CMC credential, instead.

SCM-CPC's are encouraged to upgrade to SCM Certified Master Coach, as soon as they are ready.

C. SCM Certified Master Coach (SCM-CMC)

Step 1: Attend at least one Master Coach Training Level 32-hour course via live tele-webinar. You'll will be given a chance to coach for 30-minutes in the practicum, after which you'll receive verbal and written feedback as well as a grade. These practicums are included in Master Coach Training Levels 1, 2 & 3; and are also included in the more extensive Certified Coach Training for intermediate to advanced coaches and Ultimate Coach Training for beginning to advanced coaches. Alternatively, you may attend a live Coach Certification Bootcamp for intermediate to advanced coaches. There is no online test for this certification.

Step 2: Request three recommendations, using our online recommendation questionaire, from three clients (paid, only) that you have coached for 3 months or longer. (Demonstrates results, ethics, service, professionalism at a more discerning level)

Step 3: Once your three recommendations are in, your two 30-minute live (over the phone or in-person) coaching sessions will be graded by three certifiers. You must have an averaged score of 90% or higher when graded by 3 certifiers to become a CMC. (Confirms master-level skills) If your averaged score is between 60 and 75, you'll receive the SCM-CCC, between 76 and 89, you'll be awarded the SCM-CPC, or you may resubmit coaching sessions (There is an extra charge for resubmission).

Step 4: Pledge to uphold SCM's Best Practices for Professional Coaches (Demonstrates ethics, service, and a high level of professionalism).

Step 5: Once you've achieved the SCM-CMC, you'll receive your certificate, plus a badge to place on your website and social profiles. You'll also have an opportunity to be added to SCM's CMC webpage with a link to your website, if you have one, so your future clients can verify your accomplishment. You will need to maintain it by turning in 3 recommendations from 3 additional clients (paid, only), annually that you have coached for 3 months or longer, each. (Demonstrates continuation of results, ethics, service, professionalism) There is a $100USD fee per year to maintain your certification, or you many apply for one of our specialty coach certifications, instead.

If one or more sessions does not pass, you may submit again at the rate of $200USD per additional session.

D. SCM Certified Group Coach (SCM-CGC)

The Become a Certified Group Coach Program is for coaches who have one year or more of coach training and/or professional coaching experience. There are four steps.

Step 1: Take the next Master Group Coaching Success 8-hour course, included at no extra charge in the Ultimate Coach Training Program, either live or recorded. Attend a minimum of 75% of classes. Pass an online exam, based on the provided Coaching Guides with an 80% or better score. You have two chances to pass. This course is included at no extra charge in the Ultimate Coach Training Program. Experienced coaches who can document that they already have 8 hours or more of group coach training from another school, may be able to waive this requirement and go straight to Step 2.

Step 2: Join the Become a Certified Group Coach mentor group. You must attend all four 2-hour group coaching sessions and fully participate outside the sessions, in order to pass. You will also be given one or more chances to demonstrate group coaching at a level of proficiency (80%) to pass.

Step 3: Request five recommendations, using our online recommendation questionaire, from five  clients (individual or group clients) that you have coached for 3 months or longer. (Demonstrates results, ethics, service, professionalism)

Step 4: Once you've achieved the SCM-CGC, you'll receive your certificate, plus a badge to place on your website and social profiles. You'll also have an opportunity to be added to SCM's CGC webpage with a link to your website, if you have one, so your future clients can verify your accomplishment. You will need to maintain it by turning in 5 recommendations from 5 additional group clients (paid, only), annually that you have coached for 3 months or longer, each. (Demonstrates continuation of results, ethics, service, professionalism in group coaching) There is a $100USD fee per year to maintain your certification and license (may be waived if you taken additional live classes at SCM), or you many apply for one of our specialty coach certifications, instead.
