What is a typical class like at SCM?
Our coaching skills classes are usually 2-hours long. The first hour of each class is devoted to instruction and demonstration of coaching skills, immediately followed by an hour of practice with verbal and written feedback from the instructor. What's the difference between the FCTP and CCTP?
The CCTP, or Certified Coach Training Program, is geared toward the coach who already has coach training or has been coaching professionally for a while and now wants to upgrade their skills and/or prepare for IAC Certification. It includes nine 8-hour modules on the nine IAC Coaching Masteries, an additional module called Seven Secrets of Certification and a 15-hour practicum in which the coach records their two coaching sessions for the IAC and gets scoring and feedback. It takes a year or less to complete.
More info on the Certified Coach Training Program here.
The FCTP, or Full Coach Training Program, is for new coaches who want foundational courses to get them started, plus mastery training, advanced courses and business and marketing. It includes everything in the CCTP, plus about 30 additional hours of training and practice in coaching skills and philosophy (We’re still adding courses, so that number may increase). They also receive a business-building program (www.experiencedcoach.com) that includes 25 hours of training, as well as a program for coaching your own clients and building your business. By the time you finish the FCTP, you will have about 100 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching practice. You may also have paying clients, but that depends on you. It takes a year or more to finish and you will be well prepared as a coach.
More info on the Full Coach Training Program here.
You may also register for these programs one module at a time here.
Which program should I take to prepare for IAC Certification?
Both the Full Coach Training Program (FCTP) and the Certified Coach Training Program (CCTP) will prepare you for IAC Certification. The FCTP is for new coaches who want complete coach training. The CCTP is for trained or experienced coaches who just want training for IAC Certification.
More info on the Full Coach Training Program here.

What's NOT included in the SCM Full Coach Training Program?
The SCM has no hidden costs, such as required textbooks or graduation fees. In fact, we pay your certification fee to the IAC, if you are a member of one of our Coach Training Programs. Your virtual training includes written materials (online) and substantial practice time.
What is does NOT include is mentor coaching, which is highly recommended. However, we do have a program where approved IAC Coaches offer their coaching service to members of the FTCP and CCTP at a discount.
The Coach Training Programs also do NOT include live events, but members do get discounts on our live coaching events.
Also, SCM does NOT pay your membership fee to the IAC (currently $129/year). You do need to be a member of the IAC to apply for certification there, but you can wait to join just before you apply. More info here: http://www.certifiedcoach.org/certify/certification.html
Finally, the programs do not included books on recommended reading lists. You may want to buy those or borrow them from your local library.

What if I'm ready to start recording my coaching sessions for IAC Certification?
If you are ready now for IAC Certification and want to skip the classes, you may register directly for one of our practicums or for the live Certification Prep Intensive weekend program. In these programs, coaches coach for 30 minutes and are recorded and graded. After you coach, you will receive verbal written feedback. You'll either complete two sessions that are ready for certification or you will know exactly what you need to work on.
We recommend that you attend a practicum for at least 90 days. More info here.
