Certified Coach Course Description

Class 1: What the Certifiers Are Looking For

The first 90 minutes will be a discussion between Julia, Natalie and Elizabeth about key skills that must be demonstrated for each of the 9 IAC Coaching MasteriesTM for certification the level of each that is considered masterful and how to do it. It's not enough to simply demonstrate a Mastery; you must demonstrate it at a masterful level! The discussion will be followed by 30 minutes of class Q&A.

Class 2: Coach-the-Coach: Hear What Is or Isn't Masterful Coaching

Information is usually much clearer when you get a demonstration of what works or doesn't work in coaching, so our second class meeting will be a Coach-the-Coach session in which a volunteer coach will coach live on the call and our certifiers will give the volunteer coach feedback and coaching on their coaching. This is in-the-moment learning for everybody! The coaches who are observing will learn even more than the one who is coaching. Be sure to take notes as you listen and join in the Q&A discussion with your questions and feedback.

Class 3: Demonstration: Certification Grading and What It Means

We take it up yet another notch in our third class. A week in advance, a volunteer coach will submit a recorded coaching session for scoring by our three certifiers - and by you. We'll all come to the call ready to discuss in depth what we heard, why we graded the way we graded it and whether we consider it a 'passing' session. Again, towards the end of the call, you'll get a chance to discuss and ask questions to clarify your understanding.

Class 4: Your Next Steps in Becoming a Masterful Certified Coach

By this class meeting, you'll be exponentially clearer about coach certification and mastery. Now we'll talk about YOU, where you are in the process of getting certified, differences between the certifications available, and what you're next steps need to be. You'll be directed to free resources and any courses you may need to take to get certified faster.

SCM Student, Jan O'Brien, New IAC-CC, Talks About Getting Certified

Jan O'Brien, IAC-CC

How she feels about it: 'It's an absolutely just glorious feeling!'

On SCM: 'I found the instruction to be absolutely excellent, classes with you and Natalie. They were very well facilitated and you both held us in the highest respect even when we were struggling. And it's not easy!

There was so much more to this!

I had to hold onto the stair rails very tightly at times. And it was through those challenging times that I so appreciated everybody, the instructors as well as the other people in the class.'

On IAC Grading:  'Challenging. Very high standards. You don't get away with anything and not that I was trying to get away with anything but even the masteries I thought I had really gotten well in the recordings. Everything is thoroughly sliced and diced and of course very honoring.'
